Grant Prix for BUGIC Cancer - Beerfarm

Grant Prix for BUGIC Cancer

On the 28th, a larger crowd than usual for a Sunday arvo in late April gathered at our Metricup venue. 50 of these people were here to take part in a never before seen Adult Slip and Slide competition, to raise funds for the BUGIC Foundation.

Long had there been cries from adults requesting to ride our famous Slip and Slide, so we thought it was time to let them… but we wanted to make it really count!

A knockout adult Slip and Slide race to see who could be the fastest down the slide, while raising money for something close to our hearts? What a winner!

This idea was brought to life by our very own Andy Minness who’s father Grant is a Biliary cancer patient and CEO of the BUGIC Foundation.

The vibes were high as the competitors took to the dual lane slide to see who would reach the bottom first and move on to the next round.

Each competitor bought their own unique style and techniques in their bid to reach the bottom first and claim the winning spot.

Claiming 1st place on the day was a weapon known as “Disco Stu” AKA Stuart McLennan.

The event was a huge success, raising over $4,000 for the BUGIC Foundation. Between the knockout slide race, colouring competition and word search for the kids, sausage sizzle, live music and more it was a day to remember for all involved.

“The awareness and conversations we shared on the day between so many adults and kids who hardly knew each other was just overwhelming. There were so many stories and journeys to share with all different experiences across many cancers and illnesses. It touches so many emotions and we laughed, cried, hugged and shared a common outcome bringing us together as one.
For myself to have the opportunity to share this day with my beautiful wife, all our children and family plus have the support of many others back home, was just amazing, overwhelming, humbling and a memory together that will last forever.
To be able to have such a positive impact on so many lives helps drive my fight and keeps me strong as well.”

- Grant, CEO and Founder of BUGIC Foundation
