The first packaged release of our barrel program, this beer reflects the creativity and experimental nature of our brewers in cultivating truly unique flavours. Some work and some don’t, but that’s the beauty of the barrel-ageing process.
American barley wines are very much like their namesakes. Big, bold, and full of character with everything about them dialled up to 11. Rich toffee and caramel malts on a smooth sweet body, enough bitterness to attempt some kind of balance and a wonderfully improbable whack of dry hops. Hugely enjoyable, but in small doses. 12 months ago we sent some into barrel to mature and develop some complex and slightly funky characters. We dosed it up with a bill of bold American dry hops giving this beauty a fresh undertone!
ABV – 10%
Malt – Golden Promise, Victory, medium crystal, Caramalt, melanoidin, oats
Hops – Chinook, Simcoe, Target, Mosaic, Centennial
Hop bitterness – High (55 IBU)
Hop aroma – High (4g/L)
Colour – Deep Amber (33 EBC)
Drinkability – Moderate
